HJIS CMT & DLT Announcement 3/17

Dear HJIS Community,

Welcome to week three of distance learning! As always, we appreciate all of your hard work and are inspired by your efforts in supporting your children’s education. We are very proud of the HJIS Community and our collective positive response to this temporary school closure. 

The following email is the Crisis Management Team / Distance Learning Team joint announcement for Tuesday, March 17, 2020. 

Please pay special attention to the following:

At this time, we are still planning to reopen our school campus on Monday, March 30 as previously scheduled. We anticipate hearing from the Kanagawa Prefectural Board of Education later this week to confirm this date. However, we believe in being prepared for any and all possibilities, therefore we are encouraging our students, parents, and teachers to be ready in case we receive guidance to extend school closure into April – we sincerely hope that this is not the case. 

Please be rest assured that our faculty and staff are prepared and ready to extend Distance Learning if necessary

In order to transition back to regular school operating hours, we are in the process of designing a detailed plan (including school programming specifics) including, but not limited to:

  • After School Programmes
  • Academic Assessments
  • Class of 2020 Graduation
  • Health Checkpoint Modifications
  • Support plans for students who are unable to start school upon reopening campus

Additionally, please see the following important dates:

  • Friday, March 20 – Japanese National Holiday – No School – No Online Distance Learning
  • Monday, March 23 -27 – Spring Break – No School – No Online Distance Learning
  • Monday, March 30 – School Reopens
