On Monday, May 4, Prime Minister Abe announced an extension to the nationwide state of emergency until Sunday, May 31 to reduce new coronavirus infections amid budding signs of the pandemic leveling off. The state of emergency was initially set to expire Wednesday, the last day of the Golden Week holiday period. According to his announcement, an advisory panel will make another assessment around May 14 and the state of emergency could be lifted for some areas prior to May 31 if the situation allows.

Subsequently, HJIS has extended school closure until May 31. Our Distance Learning Programme will continue as it has until this time.

We understand the stress many HJIS community members and their families are continuing to  experience during these challenging months. We strive to keep you as updated as possible with any developments concerning HJIS and possible school reopening date(s). Rest assured that one thing won’t change: HJIS’ commitment to the health and safety of our students, staff and community. If you have any further questions. comments or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the respective team directly.

Thank you for your unwavering support and flexibility as we navigate these trying times.

Best regards,
